System-Level Tree Risk Management Webinar

Host: Duntemann Urban Forestry, LLC

What constitutes a reasonable and practical risk management program for the trees that you manage?  Tree-related risk to a tree care company or government agency that manages public trees can be categorized into four types of risk: harm, fiscal, credibility and productivity.  This comprehensive three-module webinar will provide guidance in managing tree-related uncertainty and will clarify poorly understood issues of risk for arboriculture and urban forestry practitioners.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED

The full course will include discussions on the following topics:

  • The International Standards Organization’s ISO 31000 – Risk Management Guidelines.
  • Variations in risk management policies given different programs.
  • The distinction between the technical tree risk assessment and the system-level policies specific to tree risk management.
  • Logical fallacies employed in tree-related litigation that misrepresent how risk is managed.
  • The concept of “As Low as Reasonably Practical” (ALARP) to define a framework for developing achievable risk reduction policies.
  • Tools for analyzing risk exposure and establishing tree risk thresholds.
  • The features of an effective and defensible tree risk management program.
  • Metrics for quantifying risk reduction over time.
